First comment...starting CPT:
When I first start CPT I adjust the size of the chessboard area and other "panes" to a size that suits me, but after closing and reopening the "panes" default back to the original size and I manual resize them back again! Am I missing a way to customise the layout and have it remain so?

Second comment:CPT version
Today when I started CPT (Pro) I lost my customisations (layout ..pane sizes and colour) and I suspect it may have updated to a latest version. I cannot verify this as when I look at the "About" info it just says CPT5 and does not give the version number!

For the version number, just look at the top line in the CPT window. Mine starts off with, "Chess Position Trainer 5.04 Pro (Licensed to", and my name.

Many thanks..I knew I'd seen this version number somewhere! Right in front of me!

I still have the first problem from my first post, which is the layout changing on opening and closing the program.

While it is not a huge problem, it would be nice if I could get my CPT Pro to close and open and keep the layout sizing and design I prefer (and not have to manually resize it every time I open it).

I'm grateful for helpful replies to see if and how I can save my preferred layout as default on opening.I attach screenshots showing the problem and look forward to helpful replies, many thanks

this looks strange. Anybody else having problems with CPT not storing and restoring the layout? I've just checked it again and played around with some crazy layouts and it correctly restored it with the next session.

In your "documents\chess position trainer" folder you find several "cpt_layout*" files. Does the program update them when you close the program (just check the file date)?

You could also try to get a clean start by deleting all "cpt_layout*" files in the folder. In general its strange that your default layout looks already messed up. Can you provide a little bit more info on your resolution and OS?

Thanks for replying...I was beginning to despair of getting a helpful reply here to solve this.

Firstly, the issue was still happening until this morning and in desperation I clicked the reset layout button and the default dark layout was presented but it does now stay the same layout when I open and close CPT.

Although I prefer the lighter scheme colour to the dark default I am going to leave it as it is because at least I do not now have to resize the layout every time I use it.

Has there been a recent update?
I saw on one page it said CPT 5.04 but when I view the "About" window it just says CPT5.
It would be good if the "About" window gave the exact latest version.


Now I have another question...

When I make a new opening CPT database I make a new folder with a new opening and I like to add a comment to the comment pane to say what the opening is and a little about it etc etc.However when I then select another opening in a new folder the comment pane window holds the same comment I have made for the new CPT opening I just created. Only when I click forward through the moves does the comment window change and I can add specific comments applicable to those opening moves!
I hope you understood that! It is hard to describe what I mean (perhaps I might take some more screenshots to try and show this more...).I'd be grateful for helpful advice on this.
