I just cannot cope with the dark layout and yet when I use the light silver office layout, I get layout resize problem.
OS Win8

I add x2 more screenshots.
First shows CPT layout on opening program with very large board and panes not sized to my preference.
Second shows board and panes resized by me to my preferred sizes.

Bizarrely, on startup just now, the layout has stayed at the preferences I used the last time I opened and closed the program (with the light Silver Office design view).

Maybe it has somehow fixed itself?! Hopefully it will now remain fixed!
(Time will tell and I hope I do not need to post anymore on this issue..I'll see!).

This issue is unfortunately not fixed...
Today on starting the CPTPro program it opens with a different layout to my preferred layout and that I was using yesterday.

I enclose another screenshot to show this. This also shows that the program icon I have pinned to the taskbar says CPT v5.03 while the program is actually CPTPro v 5.04....

I will check out Stephan's advice about the file preferences file from his reply post to this topic.....

the resolution of the screenshot is unfortunately too low and I can't read any text on it. It is strange that your shortcut says 5.03. Maybe you are running two different CPT versions? CPT is not creating any shortcut automatically so I guess you've created the shortcut yourself. Maybe it needs to be updated manually.

Usually CPT de-installs previous versions before it installs a newer version. Please check if two different versions do exist though. Also, check where exactly the shortcut is pointing to.

You say that you are running the CPT Pro version. As I can't read the window title of CPT on the screenshot I want to double check with you that it indeed says pro version in the windows title. Only the pro version supports different skins.

Last thing: please check in which folder the layouts are stored right now. It should be "Documents\Chess Position Trainer". In the past CPT would store it in "Documents\Chess Position Trainer 4". Does CPT update the layout files in the folder? Please check the file dates after closing CPT. Does the date and time match your current time?

I just opened CPTPro and the layout was not my preferred size again!
If I try and attach larger screenshots they exceed the file upload size.
I am trying to attach a new image with this post.

Re storing the layout files I can confirm it does save to Documents\Chess Position Trainer. I took your advice and deleted all layout files and sized the layout to my preferences and new files were created and stored in this directory.

Could this be a problem with the Office 2007 silver layout that I am using (it seemed to work alright with the default dark colour scheme but I dislike that a lot!)?

You are more likely to get a timely response by going to the SUPPORT button at the top of a page and creating a ticket. Stefan doesn't just wonder around thru the threads looking for problems. That's the place to report any problems you have.
