Before Chess Position Trainer was released in June 2004, chess players could only randomly train their repertoire with a chess program. Due to Chess Position Trainer this has been significantly changed. The comprehensive implementation of the flash-card concept will let you never again train inefficiently. You will always be brought to those positions in a training session which caused you the most problems in the past. Of course this invaluable information is stored and available for the session on the next day.

Every Position has a Training Value

This is the key concept for the efficient training of Chess Position Trainer. You are presented a position for which you have to find the best move (according to your individual repertoire) without any hint. If you make the requested move the position is considered “learned” otherwise “forgotten”. This information is then used to schedule the next recall and it is the basis for the application of the flash-card concept.

The training module of Chess Position Trainer is the true gem of this chess software. The training module is unmatched with it almost endless training parameters of which most can be freely combined. Some highlights:

Train unconsciously

The photo reading mode will show you randomly positions of your opening for a short moment before it shows you the correct candidate move. The idea is to make the moves sticky in your mind in a rather unconsciously way.

Train blindfolded!

Unlike specialized software on this area which trains you in any variation or pattern, Chess Position Trainer will use your personal repertoire. You can adjust the blindfold mode by several options (e.g. only hiding certain pieces or parts of the board).
