TOPIC: proxy settings for CPT's internet connection

proxy settings for CPT's internet connection 10 years 9 months ago #28

Hi there,

does anybody happen to know where I'm supposed to specify internet proxy settings for CPT?
When checking for updates or validating my serial number CPT needs an internet connection but fails due to missing proxy settings...

Thanks,
Torsten

I don't have anything set other than my default settings. No special proxy settings.

yeah, thanks, but I use CPT on a computer that is behind a firewall, that's why.

Hello: It happened to me the same problem months ago. I asked the question by means of a Support ticket and I think there is no option in the program to sepecify proxy settings.

I can quote also for the answers I received:

"The new license code is validated through the new license server. It calls: www.chesspositiontrainer.com/LicenseService/Service.asmx
Please make sure that CPT has access to that web page."

"If you use the "check for updates" function, does this work?" (not in my case).

"Please check the firewall. It should have a section about applications and their access rights. You have to manually add Chess Position Trainer and give it the right to access the internet. I believe this should fix both issues."

That last posiibility solved my problem.

Hope it helps. Manuel.

Nope.

Mine is a corporate firewall, I can't change anything there. Without client proxy settings I'm out of luck I guess.

I see. As you only need to connect once for validate your license, I would suggest to establish a wifi connection or something like, if possible.
