Your average chess player does not exactly have $800 USD to drop on a dgt board, but yes I am sure it is ideal for the few who do. I don't expect a rich uncle to die anytime soon though...
That is precisely why I think the next development graphic wise should probably be a good, clean, 3D board...it's the next best thing to having dgt board.
Frankly, I use one of those 3D options in Chessbase when I do any real study there.
Hi, I was merely offering the DGT board as a solution to the initial posting of the disorientation caused by varying software use of pieces and your comment regarding coaches recomending a physical board to be used for studying; not the cost nor value for money of the solution, which is rightly an indivudual's choice. Fortunately, notwithstanding any current issues, CPT has supported the use of the board, which is to be commended. Personally, from the day I became aware of the board it took me just under two years to take the big step of buying one, so I know it's not an easy decision; the fact that CPT 3.3 as it then was, supported the board was a major influence. Previously I favoured a manual board as compared to 2D or 3D screen for training or playing online games and I am sure we all know the frustration of that!
Kind regards
