Your average chess player does not exactly have $800 USD to drop on a dgt board, but yes I am sure it is ideal for the few who do. I don't expect a rich uncle to die anytime soon though...

That is precisely why I think the next development graphic wise should probably be a good, clean, 3D board...it's the next best thing to having dgt board.

Frankly, I use one of those 3D options in Chessbase when I do any real study there.

The easiest way would be for me to add a few more and make them available for everybody. However, this would require that there are no copyright issues and someone willing to share them with others. I put this request on the feature request list, but I always have to weight how important it is for others in comparison to other featureq requests. Frankly speaking I haven't yet received many requests for this.
